Benefits GreenSeat option

Many travel agents have already integrated the GreenSeat option into their booking procedure. This number is still growing as more and more organisations see the benefits of integrating the GreenSeat option.

Ten reasons why you should integrate GreenSeat in your booking procedure:

      1. Integration is very easy
      2. There are no costs involved
      3. You can offer an extra service to your customers
      4. GreenSeat is good for your image
      5. Carbon offsetting for flights is a government purchasing criterion
      6. There's a continuing trend for sustainability in tourism
      7. You can make a contribution to society
      8. There is no practical alternative to flying
      9. GreenSeat has a proven track record
      10. Last but not least: carbon offsets are inexpensive!

See below for more information about these benefits.

1. The GreenSeat is easy to integrate in your booking procedure
The GreenSeat option can be easily integrated into your booking procedure using the XML plug-in model for calculating and sending the certificates. We are happy to discuss the various options with you. You can always contact us for further information.

2. There are no costs involved
Once you have paid the implementation costs for your own system there are no extra costs involved. Use of the calculator is completely free of charge. For your customers the GreenSeat option is voluntary so it does not affect your price-competitiveness!

3. You can offer an extra service to your customers
All it takes is one simple mouse click for passengers to turn their seat into a green seat. Today’s passengers are fully aware of the fact that air travel is bad for the climate. By offering the GreenSeat option you are giving your customers a concrete opportunity to do something about this. With this service you save your customers the trouble of having to make a special visit to the GreenSeat website to purchase their carbon offsets. That customers appreciate this gesture can be seen from the fact that a large percentage of passengers (up to 38 %!) choose the GreenSeat option.

4. GreenSeat is good for your image
By offering the GreenSeat option you show that your organisation is aware of the problem and is willing to contribute to the solution. Climate change is bound to affect tourist destinations. The GreenSeat option shows that you care about preserving the areas your customers are flying to.

5. Carbon offsetting for flights is a government purchasing criterion
From 2010 onwards all government purchasing is to be sustainable. All business trips made by government personnel after this date must be 100% offset. Offering the carbon offset option will gain extra points in tenders for flights booked by authorities (national, regional and local).

An increasing number of companies are also giving preference to carbon-offset flights. Commercial travel organisations who do not answer to this need will be more and more often negatively judged.

6. There is a continuing trend for sustainability in tourism
Within the travel sector, attention for sustainability, particularly with regard to the climate, is steadily growing. An increasing number of tour operators are choosing to integrate the GreenSeat option in their booking system. The importance of sustainability is also coming more to the fore within the ANVR: in 2009 the old product-oriented PMZ system is being replaced by the new and more comprehensive DTO system (Duurzaam Toeristisch Ondernemen, Sustainable Touristic Enterprise). This system describes a number of environmental aspects that tour operators are required to comply with, and climate plays a considerable role in this.

7. You can make a contribution to society
The parent organisation Climate Neutral Group guarantees that all carbon credits are high quality. Besides ensuring a reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere, all GreenSeat projects contribute to local development in developing countries. Issues such as employment, access to energy and improved living conditions are all important in our decision whether or not to invest in a project. So our projects kill two birds with one stone! Read more about our projects.

8. There is no practical alternative to flying
Of course, from a climate point of view, the best thing is not to fly at all. But air travel has become a vital part of our international world. At this time, there is no practical alternative technology to replace the jet engine, so the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases is unavoidable. Offsetting is currently the only way for you to really do something to counter the impact of your flight on the climate.

9. GreenSeat has a proven track record
GreenSeat has many years of experience in offsetting air travel and a proven track record in this field. We provide carbon offsets for organisations such as BCD Travel, Raptim, Cheaptickets, First Choice and Sawadee.

10. Last but not least: carbon offsets are inexpensive!
The price of carbon offsets is usually less than 5% of the ticket price. To offset a return flight to Milan, for example, only costs € 5.98. So for a relatively small sum, passengers can make a concrete contribution to combating the climate problem. We have also seen that when the GreenSeat option is made easily available (when it is integrated into the booking system) it is chosen by a large percentage of passengers. And because the GreenSeat option is voluntary for passengers it does not affect your price-competitiveness!
